How Long Will it Take and When Can You Start?
What people are really asking is: ‘How long is my life going to be turned upside down, and how much dust am I going to have to deal with?’ Having people in your house is a lot. but we’ve found that with the right review before we start, and letting you know what happens during each step really helps.
So, For a major kitchen or bathroom remodel where we’re stripping everything to the studs, you’re looking at about 6 to 8 weeks. If we’re just doing a ‘facelift’—like painting cabinets or swapping fixtures without moving plumbing—it’s usually much faster.
Our VIP Project Scheduler will give you a specific timeline, but more importantly, we always discuss your needs before we start. So, If you need a working sink or toilet for an extra 3 days, or you need a certain area back sooner, we will plan for that instead of just steamrolling through your house.
Also, we don’t just ‘hope’ the dust stays in one place. We seal off the work area with plastic and also cover the floors and all the furniture in all the adjacent rooms to keep cleanup to a minimum. We also offer optional air scrubbers and dust-free flooring demo to minimize dust even more. We want to be sure you are living in your home, and not a dusty job site.
I usually answer the next part – ‘When can you start?’ with “as soon as the materials are ready” So, we won’t tear your kitchen apart if your cabinets are still 3 weeks out on a delivery truck. Our VIPS project planner will be sure everything—tiles, faucets, hardware—is actually in your hands or ready for pickup before we start. This ensures that we don’t have “unexpected” gaps and starts and stops while you don’t have a kitchen.
But usually, it takes a few weeks for you to meet with designers, pick out your finishes, and get them ordered. Once those delivery dates are locked in, your VIPS Project Scheduler will add your expected start date to our calendar, update you, and then set the review meeting.
We also have a pre-construction review meeting before we swing the 1st hammer, where Our Project Manager meets you to review the entire proposal and all the materials to again, eliminate delays due to poor planning, before we tear our anything.
If on the other hand, you already have your materials, or if it’s a job that doesn’t require them—like a straight painting project—we can usually get a crew to you within a few weeks. If you’re in a rush, just let us know; we can usually shift our in house crew members around to make it work.
