Our Remodeling Process, From Quote to Final Walkthrough

One accountable team, one contract and one point of contact. Here is what happens at every step of a VIP Services remodel.

One Accountable Team From Start to Finish

Many of our clients come to us after bad experiences with previous contractors: messy crews, poor communication, vague pricing or missed deadlines. Our process is built to prevent each of those problems. For over 25 years, we have run projects with one accountable team, one contract and one point of contact, so you always know who is responsible.

We provide worker’s compensation insurance for our employees even though Texas law does not require it, we use E-Verify to confirm our crews are eligible to work in the United States, and we follow local registration requirements in the cities where we work. To understand why that matters, read Did You Hire a GC or a Subcontractor Middleman?

Step 1: Your First Meeting and Written Estimate

Every project starts with a conversation in your home. We do not give estimates over the phone. We meet you in person, ask specific questions to understand your goals, and then provide a written, detailed estimate that includes our preparation and installation procedures.

Your estimate is itemized with menu pricing, so you can choose what you need and remove what you don’t, and we can review it with you line by line. The full breakdown, including the payment schedule, is on how remodeling pricing works.

Step 2: Planning, Design and Selections

Once you approve the project, our dedicated project planner takes care of the details before we begin, including confirming material orders and scheduling design appointments.

For design-driven projects such as kitchens, you can work with our complimentary in-house designer. They meet you at your home to talk through your vision and preferences, and can even join you when you select materials and finishes from our suppliers.

Step 3: Scheduling and the Kickoff Call

Our full-time project scheduler coordinates every trade and worker on your remodel and keeps you informed throughout. Before work begins, she organizes a kickoff call with the whole project team: the project scheduler, the project planner and your project manager.

Your proposal includes approximate start and finish dates. We also talk through your household’s needs before we start. If you need a working sink or toilet for a few extra days, or a certain area back sooner, we plan for it. For more on timing, read How Long Will It Take and When Can You Start?

Step 4: The Pre-Construction Walk-Through

Before construction starts, you and your project manager do a thorough on-site walk-through. Together you review the scope of work, parking and how the space will be prepared.

We don’t just hope the dust stays in one place. We seal off the work area with plastic and cover the floors and furniture in adjacent rooms to keep clean-up to a minimum. Optional air scrubbers and dust-free flooring demo can reduce dust even further.

Step 5: Construction, Daily Clean-Up and Communication

Your dedicated project manager oversees the work with regular check-ins multiple times a week, and you can expect weekly briefings on progress. Your project manager also handles preparations for the upcoming stages of your remodel, so the next trade is ready when it is time.

Once we start, we stay on your project each day until it is finished, unless weather or a similar issue gets in the way. Our crews follow thorough daily clean-up procedures, so you are living in your home and not a dusty job site. If you want to add or change something, you receive a written change order for your approval first.

Step 6: Final Walkthrough, Lien Waiver and Warranty

When the work is complete, we do a final walkthrough with you to review the finished project. You receive a lien waiver once the work is done, protecting you from paying twice for the same work.

Your remodel is backed by our 3-Year Workmanship Warranty and our 1-Year Touch-Up Guarantee, with a reminder as your project anniversary approaches. Read the details on our remodeling warranty page. VIP Services is Wylie-based, serving Wylie, Sachse, Murphy, Allen, McKinney, Rockwall.
